Description

TRIBUTE NIGHT FILM

Writer/Director: Ruba Nadda

Cast: Patricia Clarkson, Alexander Siddig, Elena Anaya, Tom McManus, Amina Annabi

Canada, Ireland, 90 min.

CAIRO TIME is a romantic drama about a brief, unexpected love affair that catches two people completely off-guard against the romantic backdrop of Egypt. Juliette (Patricia Clarkson), a fashion magazine editor in her 40s, travels to Cairo to meet her husband, Mark, a UN official working in Gaza, for a three week vacation. When he is unavoidably delayed, he sends his friend Tareq (Alexander Siddig), who had been his security officer for many years, to escort her throughout the beautiful and exotic city. The last thing anyone expects is that they will fall in love.

“Cairo Time – winner of the Best Canadian Feature Award at the recent Toronto International Film Festival – is an elegantly understated story of unlikely love. Apart from the splendours of Cairo, the pivot to this picture is the magnificent American actress Patricia Clarkson.” - The Montreal Gazette

The evening is generously hosted and underwritten by GWFF

Join us before the film at 7:30 pm as BIFF Honors Patricia Clarkson with the 2010 BIFF Achievement in Film Award

BIFF is privileged to pay tribute to Patricia Clarkson for our 5th year celebration. Ms. Clarkson’s film career spans some 25 years beginning with her breakout role in The Untouchables. She has appeared in such films as The Green Mile, The Station Agent, High Art, Good Night and Good Luck, Lars and the Real Girl, Whatever Works, Far From Heaven, and the recently released Scorcese film Shutter Island. Her ability to take any role, no matter how big or small, and make it highly memorable has won her twenty-two awards and sixteen nominations including a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination for her role in Pieces of April.  Ms. Clarkson brings an extraordinary energy and a remarkable grace to each of her highly diverse performances, always leaving her audience with the sense of having witnessed something profoundly genuine. Our tribute will be held at the historic Mahaiwe Theater in Great Barrington. The evening will begin with cocktails and a light supper at allium restaurant for pass-holders, followed by the tribute. The event will feature the New England premiere of her latest film Cairo Time, directed by Ruba Nadda.
